A barcode is a optical machine-readable representation of data in which letters or digits are presented by lines or other shapes. By using the barcode reader you receive an automatic reading of many data details in a short time which is instantly entered into a computerized data base.
Today there are two types of barcodes:
One dimensional barcode (the barcode represents 8-20 alpha numeric symbols).
Two dimensional barcode (the barcode represents a large quantity of data, usually dozens and hundreds alpha numeric symbols).
Three methods of reading a barcode:
Laser Reader: The barcode reader sends a laser beam in which it reads the lines and converts it into digits.
CCD/Imager Reader: The barcode reader lights the barcode with a red light and photo copies the barcode, interprets the picture and converts it into content.
