Marking your PCB

PCBs need to be marked of reasons – product identification, traceability and process flow control are just a few. By far the most common method used is application of labels, usually by hand. This can add significantly to labor costs and placement accuracy can be questionable, especially if the label data is to be read automatically downstream, for instance in an AOI system. If a pleasing cosmetic result is required, hand placement should not be the method of choice.
Other identification methods are available: in-line label applicators being the favorite. These can however be expensive both to buy and to own. A high initial purchase cost can be difficult to justify, ongoing maintenance also needs to be considered, as does the additional factory floor space they consume. Laser marking is another option and while this does facilitate real-time data marking it comes with compounded cost penalties and is not suitable for all applications.

Graphics and Printing Department

Nortec provides its customers with advanced services in the field of graphics and printing of Thermal Transfer labels. The use of cutting-edge technology is very cost-efficient because it allows printing of constant and changing information directly from the computer without the use of printing plates.

Nortec has been a leading provider of these services for more than 20 years. Nortec developed unique abilities and advanced systems that make it possible to produce highly accurate printing on even the smallest labels, incorporating a large number of colors.

Nortec 4X4 printed label are an example of Nortec's ability to both manufacture very small labels of 4 X 4 millimeters (0.15 inches) and print two-dimensional barcodes on them. The two-dimensional barcode includes a large amount of information which can be read by an optical reader. Nortec's development allows identification and documentation of a large bulk of information on small or very dense circuits.

Nortec's 2D barcode labels go through 100% hundred percent quality to control to assure maximum quality. All labels are scanned and checked before shipment to the customer.

UL Standards

Underwriters Laboratories® is an independent product safety certification organization that has been testing products and writing standards for safety for more than a century. UL evaluates more than 19,000 types of products, components, materials and systems annually with 20 billion UL Marks appearing on 72,000 manufacturers' products each year.
In many cases the UL mark is identified with labels. In order to conform to UL lab standards labels must be printed with materials which are approved as durable and safe for use.

Nortec is an officially approved label supplier (ALS) being the only supplier in Israel which is approved by UL to print and produce labels with the UL symbol

The majority of Nortec materials are in UL files contain many combinations of materials and ribbon approved by UL labs testing's for a range of environmental conditions

In order to conform to UL lab standards regular inspections are conducted by UL at Nortec sites.


Mil Standards

A United States Defense Standard, often called a military standard, "MIL-STD", "MIL-SPEC", or "MilSpecs", is used to help achieve standardization objectives by the U.S. Department of Defense. Standardization is beneficial in achieving interoperability; ensuring products meet certain requirements, commonality, reliability, total cost of ownership, compatibility with logistics systems, and similar defense-related objectives. Defense Standards are also used by other non-Defense government organizations, technical organizations, and industry.
Several of Nortec Materials have been checked and approved to comply with the excellence standard of "MIL-STD".

Nortec part number V8437i711a10P is a circular label with a diameter of 6mm that are great affordable solution to mark circuit boards with the name of who has done the work. (they can replace stamps, seals or other markings). On these labels either Nortec or you can print a name, number or symbol of quality control. This printing can be done in a variety of colors.
